Understanding Credit Card Processing
Are you paying too much? Understand all the fees charged?
Okay, so you may be asking yourself, why you should trust me in providing this knowledge to you. Well,
as I mentioned, I’m what you may call an “insider”. I’ve been in this business for many years and have
experienced the frustrations that merchants have, firsthand. I’ve made a very good living but it’s only because
I’ve been honest and informative with my merchants.
As an “insider” I’m going to tell you the way it is. You see, I’m not trying to solicit your business. If
you want my personal help, I certainly won’t turn down that opportunity and all my contact info is here for you.
But, more importantly, I want you to get a better handle on this area of your business.
Bottom line, here’s why I decided to write this eBook and put up this site….it’s my bottom line!!!
Here’s the deal:
I’m 62 years old (as of June 2010), married to a fantastic woman and have five great children (one
daughter grown and married, a son attending Bowling Green State University, a eighteen year old
daughter that will be attending Illinois Institute of Arts in the fall of 2010) and fifteen and twelve year old
daughters still being homeschooled by my wife. We live along the beautiful Lake Michigan shoreline in western
Michigan. I love this area, and the merchant services business, and being out and about daily meeting with and
helping hard working merchants. However, in the spring of 2005, I was thrown a life changing curve ball.
In May 2005, I was diagnosed with “neck cancer” (squamous cell carcinoma, stage 4)….have you ever
heard of such a thing? As you might imagine, this came as quite a shock to me. I’m one of those guys that have
been blessed with excellent health all my life….I rarely even get headaches.
Well, what they discovered was that it started on my right tonsil and had spread to the lymph glands in my
neck (typically this type of cancer gets those that smoke and drink quite a bit…..I do neither!). After several
visits to the “specialists” and doing lots of on-line research, the prognosis was given. I was told that if I did
nothing, that I would have six to eighteen months to live. Wow! Quite the blow!
Being a man of great faith in He who created us, diligent prayers went up. I’m blessed to be surrounded
by many who also offered up prayers on my behalf. We were all seeking God’s will in this situation. The doctors
were recommending what they call a radical neck dissection. This would involve a large “H” shaped incision on
the right side of my neck to remove lymph glands, neck muscle and the jugular vein (quite disfiguring). This was
to be followed with radiation and chemo.
After much prayer, I felt God was directing me to go for radiation and chemo and not elect for the
surgery. Further, he directed me to CTCA (Cancer Treatment Centers of America) in Zion, Illinois. This is a
fantastic place that really cares for the whole person from a medical, naturalpathic, spiritual, and nutritional
perspective. If you know anyone afflicted with this dreaded disease, I highly encourage you to check one of their
centers out.
So, in the fall of 2005, I underwent some pretty intense treatment that lasted six weeks. The radiation
was focused on the right side of my neck primarily and some on the left side because of the lymph glands being
involved. What this did was pretty much zap the heck out of about 80% my salivary glands. Consequently, I
have an extremely dry mouth and throat. I pretty much live with a water bottle to keep me lubricated and help
swallow my meals (unless it’s something really sloppy). I wake in the morning feeling as though I’ve been sucking
on a sock all night. YUK!!! So my reduced vocal strength and endurance keeps me out of the field.
Now for the GOOD NEWS….subsequent tests, and most recently in October 2009, have shown that I
am blessed to be cancer free. PRAISE GOD!!!! He is good and still on the throne and is still in the miracle
business today. I AM LIVING, BREATHING, PROOF!!! I didn’t have the disfiguring surgery the doctors
recommended and still, to their surprise, I AM HEALED!!!
With all that said, let me cut to the chase on why I decided to put up this site and write the eBook. With
the radiation affecting the salivary glands, this has also affected my vocal chords. As a result, I have less vocal
strength and vocal endurance making it near impossible to be out in the field every day, doing what I love.
Primarily, I have just been taking care of my existing clients and handling referrals.
So, I figured, with all the time I had on my hands, I would do something that would still benefit merchants
with the knowledge that I have. And, with the use of the internet, it would have a much more far reaching impact
than just my local market. Now I have merchants from Seattle to Miami rather than just in western Michigan.
And, it would hopefully make me a few bucks for the family along the way.
I tell you all this, not for you to feel sorry for me. Quite the contrary! I am truly a blessed man. This
bout with cancer has been a real blessing in many ways. It has drawn me closer to a more personal relationship
with God. I’ve been able to share my story, and bring encouragement to many others.
THANKS FOR STOPPING BY
BE BLESSED AND BE A BLESSING!!!
